A charming Normandy B&B.
Chambres d'hotes de charme en Normandie.

If you have arrived at our website in your search for the perfect haven at which to relax, unwind, and see the sights of Normandy, then you need look no further; you've found it! Dean and Susan, along with their three children, George, Elizabeth and Oliver (and not to forget Daphne and Lily, the two Golden Retrievers), extend a very warm welcome to you at La Beauconniere, their lovely old farmhouse B&B in the heart of the Normandy Bocage.
The Front Driveway
Bed and Breakfast in Normandy at La Beauconniere, perfectly placed for all of the D-Day Beaches, Bayeux and Le Mont St. Michel.
La Beauconniere is a charming old dairy farm set amidst the gently rolling hills of rural Lower Normandy. It is a place where time seems to stand still; where the pressures and rush of the modern world have no place. At La Beauconniere you will find peace and tranquillity, horses and cattle calmly grazing in the green fields, and birds singing in the towering old trees. Many of our guests have asked us about the origin or meaning of the name: La Beauconniére. Local knowledge informs us that the "beau" part of the name is meant to connote beauty or, in this sense, beautiful, and that the "conniére" part is derived from the French connaisance or connaitre, which means, loosely, knowledge, understanding or experience. Accordingly, we take La Beauconniére to mean The Beautiful Experience. Once you've experienced this charming old place for yourselves, we hope that you'll agree. So, why not choose La Beauconniére as your B&B in Normandy?

The Old Farmhouse.
The two houses at La Beauconniere sit on opposite sides of the courtyard garden. The rambling old farmhouse is reserved especially for the guests and is situated more than 250 metres from a very calm country lane. Peace and quiet are assured. There are three lovely gardens set up with tables and chairs. Each one is a haven of peacefulness and tranquillity, ideal for relaxing with a book, or a picnic, or for simply watching the birds.

On-site horse riding is also available at La Beauconniere
The bed and breakfast is ideally placed to enable our guests to visit all of the sights for which this beautiful region of Lower Normandy is famous. For example, Le Mont St. Michel, the beautiful medieval city of Bayeux with its famous Tapestry, Cathedral, Battle of Normandy Museum, British War Cemetery and shopping, and all of the D-Day Landing Beaches and Second World War sites from Pegasus Bridge to Arromanches, Pointe du Hoc and Sainte Mere Eglise, are all within easy reach. Once you are here, Dean will be more than happy to help you plan your sightseeing activities.

The cyclists also love our region for its quiet, unhurried lanes and the various established velo routes.
It is not just its proximity to the famous tourist attractions which render La Beauconniere the perfect choice of bed and breakfast for your visit to Normandy. Our region has so much more to offer. The ramblers and hikers visit us for the seemingly endless green lanes and byways flanked by hedgerows that meander through the countryside, thus providing the ideal location for country walking. We have hundreds of Normandy walking itineraries available for you, ranging from 6 to 20 kilometres, and with varying degrees of difficulty.

There are sixteen British and two Canadian Cemeteries in Normandy. The time-honoured British tradition is that a soldier is to be buried where he falls.
Whatever your reasons for searching out a B&B in Normandy, we are convinced that once you have stayed with us once, you will leave us as friends and return again and again. So many of our guests have made our special bed and breakfast their home from home. So, why don't you book a stay at La Beauconniere, the B&B accommodation of choice for discerning travellers.
We at La Beauconniere believe that a bed and breakfast ought to have good beds and good breakfasts. If not, such an enterprise might be doomed to failure! In this regard, we have been told by our guests that our beds are the most comfortable in France. In addition, we think that breakfast is "the most important meal of the day." Accordingly, we serve our delicious, varied, and plentiful continental breakfast in the spacious, characterful dining room. Excellent beds, excellent breakfasts!
The most beautiful trails for a walk or horseback ride begin right on our doorstep.
You can also choose La Beauconniére for a horse riding holiday in Normandy. We offer on-site horse and pony riding right here at La Beauconniére. Susan, a convert to natural methods of horsemanship, has five horses and four ponies available for those looking for equestrian pursuits, and she goes out most mornings with small groups of guests for a hack around the beautiful, quiet country lanes which surround the B&B. La Beauconniere has become a favourite among those looking for a horse riding holiday in Normandy.

There are also some bicycles available, a small football pitch, and a badminton net set up in the back garden. In addition, your hosts and their three polite, helpful children, George, Elizabeth and Oliver, are keen walkers, and would be happy to recommend a good trail to suit your requirements.
Come and stay with us at La Beauconniere, perhaps the best bed and breakfast in Normandy!
