La Beauconniere is a charming old dairy farm set amidst the gently rolling hills of rural Lower Normandy. It is a place where time seems to stand still; where the pressures and rush of the modern world have no place. Loud music, traffic congestion and noisy crowds cannot be found here. At La Beauconniere you will find peace and tranquility, horses and cattle calmly grazing in the green fields, and birds singing in the towering old trees. Many of our guests have asked us about the origin or meaning of the name: La Beauconniére. Local knowledge informs us that the "beau" part of the name is meant to connote beauty or, in this sense, beautiful, and that the "conniére" part is derived from the French connaisance or connaitre, which means, loosely, knowledge, understanding or experience. Accordingly, we take La Beauconniére to mean The Beautiful Experience. Once you've experienced this charming old place for yourselves, we hope that you'll agree. The Old Farmhouse.
The two houses at La Beauconniere sit on opposite sides of the courtyard. The rambling old farmhouse is reserved especially for the guests and it sits more than 260 metres from a very calm country lane. Quiet is assured. Outside, there are three lovely, secluded gardens, set up with tables and chairs. Each is a haven of peace and tranquility; an ideal place to sit and read, to picnic, or to simply relax. There are also many fields and trees all around and a great variety of birds.
This charming and characterful bed and breakfast is ideally situated on the borders of Calvados and La Manche, between the Bocage and the Bessin, and it therefore provides the visitor, wherever his or her interests may lie, with easy access to all the very best that this wonderful area of Normandy has to offer. Once you are here, you can quite easily visit all of the usual and well-known tourist halts of Lower Normandy. The bed and breakfast is convenient for Le Mont St. Michel, the beautiful medieval city of Bayeux with its famous Tapestry, Cathedral, British War Cemetry and shopping, and all of the D-Day Landing Beaches and Second World War sites from Pegasus Bridge to Arromanches, Le Pointe du Hoc and Sainte Mere Eglise.

Delicious continental breakfast is served in the spacious, characterful dining room. Table d'hotes meals are offered by arrangement on Friday, Saturday or Sunday evenings. The dinners consist of four courses and wine. (If you didn't stay with us last Thanksgiving, you didn't have Susan's homemade soup to start, roast turkey with sausage and chestnut stuffing, roast potatos, vegetables, cranberry sauce and creamed onions, etc., followed by a Normandy cheese course, and then pumpkin pie with cream for dessert. Ah well, maybe you'll come this year!)

There are also bicycles available for rent, a small football pitch, and a badminton net set up in the back garden.
