The Region

La Beauconniere is situated in a beautiful part of Normandy and is within easy reach of several market towns, cities and beaches.  For example, Bayeux, with its tapestry and magnificent cathedral, is just 25 minutes away from our b&b. 

         The bed and breakfast is an easy 45 minute drive of the fabulous Mont St. Michel, the D-Day landing beaches, the historic city of Caen, and the seaside towns of Granville and Agon-Coutainville.

The bed and breakfast is close to the d-day beaches at Utah and Omaha, Sainte Mere Eglise, Pointe du Hoc, Arromanches, Port en Bessin, Pegasus Bridge, as well as the British, U.S., Commonwealth and German Cemetaries.

 

Come to La Beauconniere for a B&B close to picturesque and historic Bayeux

Saint Lo, home of the Haras Nationale and a lively Saturday morning market, is just 15 minutes away, and the market towns of Torigni-sur-Vire and Caumont l'Evente are just 10 minutes away.

American Cemetery

For walkers or ramblers, the great old forest at Cerisy and the walks at the Chateau de Balleroy are just 15 minutes away, and there are several marked trails and walking routes in the surrounding area, including some that  begin right at the doorstep.  For cyclists, the roads around the house are very peaceful and the Elle and Vire valley veloroute runs very close by. There is safe indoor storage for those wishing to bring their own bikes. There are two excellent golf course within 40 minutes. 

 

          Omaha Beach

 When table d'hotes is not offered, there are several choices of fine and casual dining within a 10-minute drive.  In addition, during finer weather, there are several barbecue grills available for guests to use.
